Email ID's - A funny review

Now this post is not intended to hurt anyone especially those on my GTalk and Yahoo list

Now after surfing the internet and visiting millions of sites for more than 7 years I thought about discussing the way every person recognizes himself on this virtual world of Internet - Email ID

I have more than 1200 contacts on gmail and around 1000 on yahoo mostly engineering professionals and I find it funny whenever I add a new email id either on my gtalk or yahoo list or get request from them...So letz c some of the funny as well as funky Email Ids and probably decide what shld be the format for creating your email ID

I start with my email id

arvi_882k3[at]yahoo.co.in - I laugh many a times seeing my id..it was intended to tell the world that a guy whoz first four letters start with arvi and has lived from 88 to 2k3...the funy thing was this id shld expire in 2004 but I am still using it...

mkkodali[at]gmail.com - This guy is a legend with respect to the way he tackles activities..and his email Id is no different..he tries to highlight his surname KODALI instead of Mohan krishna Kodali which in otherways sounds funny 'MK' kodali

Many questioned where is the blogger who encouraged many to blog...now I was busy after the huge success of Bitsexam...replying to so many queries of so many aspirants...some called me an idiot...some bro...some Saviour :P and some became good friends on gtalk and yahoo ...Now I am planning to take a step further and have startup...but therez loads of time left...so letz c what wannabe Bitsians have for Bitsat-2009

This post is to prevent all those idiots from wasting their time and money on mobile and gen treat bills.

Chat(Wikipedia definition)

Online chat can refer to any kind of communication over the Internet, but is primarily meant to refer to direct one-on-one chat or text-based group chat (formally also known as synchronous conferencing), using tools such as instant messaging applications—computer programs, Internet Relay Chat, talkers and possibly MUDs, MUCKs, MUSHes and MOOes. The expression online chat comes from the word chat which means "informal conversation".

As usual wiki definition sucks.Itz the tool evry student(especially engineering) use to talk with all the people around the world at the cheapest price possible(In a college with internet connection you actually do it for free).

Chatting is a very important phase in an engineering students life which reaches its pinnacle in itz first year .Itz the best tool to be in touch with old friends and to make new ones.Anyday my chatting favourite would be "YAHOO MESSENGER" but due to many constraints(bad internet connectivity) I shifted to "GTALK" which though not as good as yahoo msngr gives a tuff competition witht the many addons you get.

So here are some of the important advantages you have:

Privacy : Thatz what u get when u chat...privacy...with more and more students preferring to buy laptops...one would have ultimate privacy in chatting with any person about almost anything.But remember there are tools which screw up your privacy sometimes...just be aware of them...Ex: Yahoo Sniffer...you can see all chats on your entire network...even people who are not on your messenger list.

All Fools Day : Fool every person on your chat list every time.Yahoo has a good feature of being invisible...and if you find any person disturbing you change your stealth settings to invisible for that person.Gtalk on the other hand has a good feature of blocking the person(also available in yahoo) and using tools like GAlways Idle one can stay idle or be available anytime you wish.With softwares like Pidgin one can sign into many accounts at the same and even different messengers and works effectively even at very low band widths .

It wasnt me : Hahaha...best dialogue to say when you screw up a conversation at any point of time...no it wasnt me it was friend chatting, my gtalk signs in automatically and my sister was using the computer, i am damn busy doing my project(Playing computer games) , I have an exam tomorrow(ob not) , I am not feeling well, I just did a nite out and feeling damn sleepy, my yahoo msngr signed out...DND(do not disturb) , PDND(Please DND), DTD(Dare to disturb), BRB(BeRightBack-Never Happens), On a Call(generally natures), 1 min,2 min, 5min,10 min,1 day 10 days 1000days hahahahahah...it goes on.

Memories : There are moments in your chatting life which are very precious and need to preserved...and with introduction of gtalk most important conversations should and must happen...the first chat with a gal....the general bugging of your friend...those bragging moments...and the important links...

Mobile Naat : The most effective way to use the online messengers is to talk with friends using microphones instead of mobiles.Itz cheap ,kewl and effective while playing online games and pinging your friends.Why waste money on mobile bills especially when there is an increase in inflation.

Gals Gals Gals

Every time a gal enters a guys life....u just decide where she shld stand.....it starts of with "true love" to "great friend" to "nice friend" to "friend" to "plz dont talk abt her" to "whoz she???".This may happen randomly...like the reverse process happens in some case(examples later)..

But the strange thing abt my life is that all my friendships with gals where never dictated by such processes but happened in the most haphazard way possible...

I was always considered as an idiot at dealing with gals(still I am) and on any damn day given a choice would prefer talking to a boy than a gal(hehe....except abt some topics)...Apart from so many sisters I have and with whom i love to spend my time I still cannot figure out why I back out to talk to gals(new ones especially).....

But as a matter of fact, my life has been inspired by three gals.....So I wuld be talking abt them briefly...

The whole concept of talking to gals as far as I remember dates back to my 8 class. Now due to many constraints i cannot reveal the names of the gals involved.Reasons being

So to start with the story as you can see...I was a big no no at talking to gals.In my 8 class there was a gal say 'X' who was being teased by a guy 'S' (S left the school previous year) and due to some crap i did 'X' cried and eventually the matter was reported to the class teacher.Now there was a gal 'Y' (who was one of my classmates) who burst out on me in the class in front of all the students...Now i am not a guy who takes things lightly...especially a verbal fight with a gal that too infornt of 60 odd people...Now thats bad :)

So I troubled her in all the possible ways...but as time went by became her friend(dont ask how)....As our friendship was more on the lines of peace(after a war), the verbal challenges continued....She challenged me to get top marks in 9 final examination and indeed I did....During my school time I thought that she was arrogant to challenge me...but later did I realise that only that challenge had put a guy who was completely deviated from academics on the right track...

So herz my first advice

Never give up when challenged by a gal......Itz for ur good

Laptops???

It is a tuff job to choose a lappy especially when there are so many companies offering Laptops at prices affordable by a common man.So what to choose???

There are two major competitors in the INDIAN market - DELL and HP (with due respect to other computer giants like SONY,LENOVO etc etc)

Why Only DELL and HP???You will have your answers at the end of this post

DELL

Stylish,Sexy laptops at damn cheap prices.Check out their site DELL,INDIA
The best thing about DELL laptop's is that you can customize almost evry part of ur lappy.Inspiron series lappy's are termed to be the best buy latops for everyone. XPS series lappys are considered to be one of the best gaming laptops available in India.It was not available in Indian market an year ago.Since itz release in India it has been one of the most purchased laptop by student community especially engineering students.

But the problem with DELL laptops starts with purchase itself.It doesnt have any showrooms or service outlets in India an so u gotta wait for very long time on the till their busy operators connect your call to the related person both in case of purchase as well as replacement or any other issues.Not having a service centre is a huge problem as even for a minor issue after the gaurantee period it would cost u 1500 bucks just for the person to check out what the problem is.

So herez my advice....when buying a DELL lappy extend ur gaurantee to three years to be on the safe side and always mail the customer care and tell them to call you up instead of spending hours on the phone.

The biggest advantage of buying a HP lappy is that there are many showrooms available and so many service centres throughout India.Though there is not much customization of parts,most of the lappy's have almost all the required features.Just check out their site for comparison of laptops HP,India . As you can see the HP pavilion dv6700 is comparable to Dell Inspiron 6400 series laptops but it has a higher price(a difference of 5k) but it has a better look than inspiron lappy's and many other good features like a better graphic card.The pavilion dv2700 are on the costlier end of basic laptops but the service provided by HP and the ease of buyin(u have to wait 3 weeks to get ur DELL lappy) from any showroom is worth buying the laptop.But there arent any famous and affordable gaming laptops in HP for Indian customers .

So herez my advice when buying a hp lappy....check out for the offers and c that ur lappy has all the things u wish to have.

DELL anyday -remember patience is the virtue which wuld help u in dealing with their Customer "CARE"(less)

Desktop Vs Laptops????

Continuing my previous post about PC's so the next argument would be whether to purchase a monstrous desktop or to go on with a sleeky laptop.So lets look into what each of them boasts about

Desktop

Cheaper-the prices are far lower than laptops and you could buy loads of the thigs at a price less than half on what u spend on a lappy.

All Terrain- Desktops with so many features can be considered as all terrain and can be handled roughly under all climatic conditions.

Variable-Say 2 years u have a new processor up in the market ,then u need not spend on many other things like monitor etc.Also the greatest advantage would be with regards to the graphic cards and hard disks which can be changed evry now and then depending on your budget.

Professional Gaming-Though there are few gamers who play on lappy's the best gamers would surely love to work on Desktops with all those graphic cards,Lasers mouse, sexy keyboards etc.

Laptops

Reliability- Since most of the laptops available in the market are from the best competitors like DELL,HP,SONY,APPLE they are famous for their reliability as can been seen from their quality of products and service they provide.

Portability-The thing which makes LAPPY's the best friend...portability...take it anywhere....to any tour..to any college(incase of tech fests and cul fests) while you are on travel...i mean evrywhere...

"Personal" Computer-Lappys mean more privacy making them more personal ( I spent half of my engineering life with my laptop ).The first thing u wish good morning is ur lappy and the thing with which u sleep during nite is ur lappy.

Gaming Laptops- There also professional gaming laptops available in the market like alienware with high end graphic cards and companies like DELL allow complete customization of every part of the lappy(Working on a DELL Inspiron 6400/E1505).

As for my discussion I am sure you are still not clear which to choose from..so herez my adivce..

If your budget permits and if you are on frequent travel and staying away from home and less interested in gaming then prefer a LAPPY.

And in any other case prefer a DESKTOP.

Though practically they are a lot different from one other in terms of the pricing,features,portability and many other factors.... A laptop is no better than a Desktop if it is on a table instead of ur laps.

So to define it in an engineers way,itz the only non living thing which induces life into virtually every Homo Sapien on the planet earth.They have revolutanized every aspect of human life and been the best friend till date.

So the first question???Do students require a personal computer?

Itz a completely debatable topic and i will try to put the Pros and Cons of owning a PC

Pros:
The best way to spend your free time
Highly important for academics(most of the courses have lecture slides or have lots of related information on the internet)
Make loads of friends and contact people who are in alien land
The best way to earn money in future(So many job opportunities and having a PC helps a lot)
Knowing a good deal about computers often helps in winning girls

Cons:
You dont have free time once you are addicted to it(I am writing this post 5:30 a.m. just shows how idiotically addicted I am to this lifeless box)
You forget about people around you and live in a world of dreams
Addiction to games especially LAN games and flash games messes up your academics
The best way to screw your life during good times
Talking a lot about computers sometimes makes you look like an idiot in front of girls

So what do i conclude and what advice do you get....
Pretty simple...Get a personal computer and get f'd

P.S: Computers are very essential for day to day life.Apart from the movies , the games,the songs,the chat, the gen stuff you learn a big deal about the world around us in a better way.
Personal computers are very very important for any engineering student irrespective of the discipline(branch in some colleges)

Why do Ppl Blog???

The first question I have to ask myself ...y am i Blogging????

Many reasons ...Wanna make the world know about me(Gtalk helps a lot in spreading the message)

Secondly...There is a drastic improvement in our writing skills(helps for future examinations)

And thirdly F.Y.I there are people who earn more than 10000$ per month only thru their blogs(approx 4 lacs p.m INR ) ..beleive me itz per month and not per annum...
So whatz in a blog through which they can earn...
Itz pretty simple..More the number of viewers more the possibility of they clicking the ads and Google (and many other companies) pays every1 in the form of Adsense...

I never beleived that companies pay us...that to in a country like INDIA and that to for students without a credit/debit card...But they do pay...

Proof: Recently seen cheques of 500$(approx 20,000 INR) by Google

So U mite be thinking whatz in it for an engineer and what kinda advice am i getting from here???

Advice Advice and Advice that's what you get when u became a winner....whom to listen???
Many said i was apt for medicine but i had my eyes on engineering...so joined one the best concentration camps in Andhra Pradesh-"Narayana Junior College"...

As everyone does started with JEE coaching...After studying an year there i decided no more JEE coachin....I am a guy who is good at memorizing things ,then y take risk of an Entrance exam...better prepare for the coolest thing Intermediate Public Examination and get into BITS my dream college(it was indeed my dream to get into BITS from class 6..Courtesy a good teacher i knew)

It was the wrong move i made......when i changed my coll(another branch of NARAYANA) to only intermediate without any coaching for entrance exam came a shock....

To everyone's surprise BITS stopped taking admissions via 12 class marks and started a new entrance examination BITSAT

I was in a No Mans Land....I had to fight back and indeed i did....i took up our state entrance examination(EAMCET) coaching...it was hard work all along....but at the end i was the winner cleared BITSAT and entered BITS with a degree in B.E(Hons) Civil Engineering

So Herez my advice

Life has itz ups and downs and the winners are those who never give up...

As is said before LIFE IS ALL ABOUT MAKING FRIENDS...

I had many but the two guys VENKAT and SADANAND changed my life....ourz is the best trio possible...one who does evrything except studying...one who has girls flocking arnd him...and one who has spent all his time trying to become and engineer(myself).... I enjoy every second i spend with them...

Our first hurdle was clearing the BOARD examinations...Itz never easy to s,girlstudy in such company and worst part making them study.....But my destiny had different plans...I became the school topper(i love hyping things) and they lucky fellows(just replaced the B word)....cleared with a first class...

So here comes my advice

If i had said no to our combined studies i would never had been the topper(no one in my school has broken the record till date)..It was their support and inspiration that got the best out of me...

So itz truly said that a Friend in need is a friend indeed

My life before coming to BITS

My initial posts are a bit different from what my blog TITLE says....But spare with me coz i had learnt many valauble lessons..

I was not a typical guy....I had all the bad habits that a school topper shouldnt have..I did my schooling from St.Joseph's High School...another catholic missionary school where excelling at sports and debating like a professional was more important than getting good marks in exams...sadly i sucked at both except getting good marks...
I had my solace in my friends ...I was good at making friends(still i am) and also breaking them..

When i left my school it was one of the worst feelings i ever had...A class of 55 with more than 40 people whom i meet even today shows how badly i miss all of them..

Here comes My advice number one regarding friendship

Itz important to learn that life is all about making friends...never break a friendship even if it breaks you

They say choose your friends wisely....It never happens.....

Advice number three

I have so many friends who booze and drink and do lots of idiotic stuff...All this crap starts at school level and reaches itz pinnacle during graduation... And many people blame their company for entering that domain..I got only one thing to say "Have control on yourself"
